Meet Alexa
“My artistic practice operates at the intersection of text and texture, transforming the private language of poetry into monumental visual affirmations. I view the canvas not as a static surface, but as a site of self-reckoning where the written word serves as both the foundational architecture and the primary subject matter.”
The shape of the journey
Alexa’s creative approach is a product of a non-linear journey. It is shaped by the disciplined stages of the Dreyfoos School of the Arts, the high-stakes, kinetic energy of New York City government and politics, and the profound, communal impact of the classroom. Her work is deeply informed by the electricity of the spoken word communities of Brooklyn, Harlem, and Queens, balanced by the soulful joy of being rooted back home in South Florida.
These varied chapters taught her that language is performance and communication is a service. By blending the strategic precision of a publicist with the heart of an educator, she facilitate spaces, both in person and on canvas, where vulnerability is treated as a strength.
